Annie Banceu, Fostering Hope Community Leader—Compass Church
One of Vancouver Business Journal’s 2015 Accomplished and Under Forty honorees, this mother of three has managed to do a lot in a short amount of time. Along with caring for her two sons (15 and 13) and adopted daughter (age 9), she provides regular pastoral care at her church and leads a group of volunteers to care for the Fostering Community of Vancouver, WA. Annie and her volunteers work vigilantly to recruit new foster homes for homeless children and put on community events that bring foster children together for a bit of fun. One recent event brought more than 60 foster kids together for a giant pizza party. It gave the kids a chance to connect with others in the same situation and in some cases offered siblings who were separated some much-needed family time.
Annie has fostered over 20 children herself and is dedicated to continuing her work for this special community. When asked what she is most proud of, Annie says it’s her three children.“They are passionate and kind. They are compassionate and beautiful, and I am proud of who they are and who they are becoming.”
Words of Wisdom: "I work really hard, and I rest really hard. My downtime is really important to me, it makes me able to do all the things I get to do."
