The Bass(ics): When owner, Chris Marx turned an abandoned Wallingford house into a music school, broken windows and graffiti gave way to an inspirational place to learn music. Off The Wall School Of Music has two missions: to make music lessons really fun – with a well-rounded curriculum; and to give every family in Seattle a FREE music lesson. From country and classical to ragtime and reggae, students perform all styles of music. Lessons can begin as early as age 4 on clarinet, harmonica and viola. Piano and violin start at age 5; ukulele and drums at 6 (check Off The Wall's website for your instrument of choice). Young pianists can also show-off their skills at dueling piano recitals with drummers and two grand pianos. Off The Wall has regular open-mics at their studio, and hosts more mellow recitals at venues around Seattle, including Tula’s Jazz Club and The Hard Rock Café.
The Beat: Bass, clarinet, drums, guitar, harmonica, piano, saxophone, ukulele, viola, violin and voice are all offered.
Band Camp: For kids ages 7-16, Off The Wall offers Rock Band and Girls Rock camps; younger students may audition.
