The Bass(ics): With locations across the U.S. and Mexico, School of Rock has been, “inspiring kids to rock on stage and in life” since 1988. School of Rock is performance-based, so if your little rockers are itching to be on stage, this could be the place for them. Lessons start off with Rock Rookies (ages 6-7), a weekly hour-long class, where students enjoy jamming with kids their own age and finding the instrument that works best for them. Then there’s Rock 101 (ages 7-18), a weekly private lesson to learn their instrument, plus a weekly rehearsal with their band. There’s no pressure to perform on stage in Rock 101 – kids just have fun learning to play together. But, when they're ready to take the stage, there’s the exciting Performance Program, with a private lesson, 3-hour weekly rehearsals, and instruction in stage performance, harmonies and musicianship. Your kiddo’s band will then perform at a local rock venue---such as the Crocodile Café, Nectar Lounge, or Showbox. Psst... If you've got a real mini-rockstar on your hands, he or she can audition for the School of Rock House Band that plays all over Seattle, including Bumbershoot, carnivals, street fairs, and in front of 50,000 people at Gas Works Park. Rock on!
The Beat: Bass, drums, guitar, keyboards and voice are all offered.
Band Camp: Rock Band Camp is available for kids ages 7 & up along with various workshops (Horn, Diva Vocals and Blues Improv).
