Up, Up & Away: Meet 13 Power Moms Who Call Seattle Home

It may have been Stan Lee who penned, “with great power comes great responsibility,” but moms live this truth daily. Whether it’s heading a start up, running errands or coaching our sidekick’s weekend soccer game (or all of the above!), moms really do do it all. Flip through to meet 13 Seattle moms who prove you don’t need to wear a cape to have super powers.

Vivian Phillips, Director of Marketing & Communications, Seattle Theater Group
Currently, Vivian Phillips oversees marketing and communications for STG, the group that owns and operates The Paramount as well as running both the Moore and Neptune Theaters. But her relationship with the group started way back in the 90’s when she worked on the Paramount’s gorgeous renovation. And continued from 2000-2006 when she served on the STG board. When she’s not wearing her STG hat, Vivian puts her talent and understanding of the art world to work for the Seattle Arts Commission. She’s served as the Chair for the past two years there, elevating “the significance of art and artists in our community” for the mayor’s office. Long story short, if you’ve seen art in the Emerald City, Vivian’s probably had a hand in it.

While raising her three (now grown) kids, Aundré, Jazmyn, and Jené, Vivian learned that, “each day is perfect and whatever I accomplish in whatever time I had is also perfect.” She capitalizes on her “all in” personality by immersing herself in either work or self, and always finds joy in what she’s doing, especially if it means hanging out with her family. Those are some serious building blocks for balance!

Power Mom Pearl: “I am incredibly proud to have raised three truly wonderful human beings, mostly on my own. There really is no greater feeling than to see your kids become really cool people who are caring, loving, accomplished, smart, good parents, kind, and who all love their mom. I’ve always said that children can be the greatest source of pain and joy. They really are my best project!”
