Kim Estes, Founder Savvy Parents, Safe Kids
Kim has spent the past 20 years as a parent educator, but in 2006 she realized there was a need to educate parents specifically about child safety. So she started Savvy Parents, Safe Kids, where she runs workshops that empower parents and youth organizations with “simple, non-scary” techniques to keep kids safer from sexual abuse and prepare them to safely navigate the internet, among other things. She’s proud of the impact Savvy Parents, Safe Kids has had. And hearing from families who have been through the workshops, who have seen her tools in action, is her favorite part of the work she does.
This Redmond small business owner is mom to two kids, “plus several ‘bonus’ kids who we've been lucky to have in our life at various points.” In their free time, Kim and her family love to pack up the family truckster and hit the road with everyone in tow. For them it’s a chance to “unplug, recharge and take in the scenery,” while they explore new places or head back to familiar faves, like Yellowstone.
Power Mom Pearl: Kim and her family recently set some goals to, “simplify our life, downsize our stuff, travel more and eliminate debt...and we are seeing the realization of those efforts and it feels AMAZING.”
