Just because my kids are engaged with their tablets, doesn’t mean they can’t still be creating, exploring and learning. With FreeTime Unlimited for the Amazon Fire Kids Edition tablet they’ll be doing just that. FreeTime Unlimited features over 20,000 games, books, videos and much more. Here are five surprising ways the Amazon Kids Edition tablet helps unlock my kids’ imaginations.

They’ll See Familiar Faces
FreeTime Unlimited features content with all your kid’s favorite characters from Disney, Nickelodeon and more. One of our family’s personal favorites is PBS KIDS. From Odd Squad to the Wild Kratts, both of my kids have favorite PBS KIDS characters that they love seeing on the tablet. And, I love the fact that every PBS KIDS game has an educational angle that makes it fun for my kids to learn about topics like math, science and reading. There are several PBS KIDS games, videos and books available in FreeTime—simply search under Characters & Themes to see them all.
They’ll Find Pretend Play
You might think that pretend play is something that goes out the window during screen time, but if you’ve ever spent time on any of the dozens of Toca Boca apps, you’ll discover that open-ended play is definitely possible in the digital world. Both of my kids are obsessed with these apps that encourage creative play. Kids can pretend to be anything from veterinarians to chemists using the wide range of apps that are available through FreeTime Unlimited. MyTown and Dr. Panda are both favorites with my kids for pretend play as well.

They’ll Get Moving
The downside to screen time is that it often means sitting still. When I want my kids to mix in some physical activity we can always turn to the iHeart Radio Family app within FreeTime Unlimited, which features dozens of music channels. We play the tunes my kids love and that I know won’t feature any inappropriate language. With music playing we can all get up and show off our best dance moves.
They’ll Discover Interactive Viewing
There are so many great movies and TV shows for kids on FreeTime Unlimited, but two of my kids’ favorites are Bookaboo and Creative Galaxy. Both shows take their stories off the screen and encourage kids to explore in the real world. Bookaboo is an adorable series about a rock star dog who reads children’s books that come to life on the screen. My kids often ask about the books that are featured and we’ve checked a few out from the library to read after watching the show. Creative Galaxy is about a resourceful alien who uses art to solve problems. This show features art projects at the end of each episode that kids can try at home.

They’ll Encounter STEAM-Powered Fun
Anything that makes science, math and other STEAM topics fun and exciting for kids is a plus in my book. There are dozens of educational apps for all ages on FreeTime Unlimited on Amazon Kids Edition tablets, but there are definitely a few that are favorites at our house. My three-year-old loves TeamUmizoomi: Math Racers. Inventioneers, which lets kids build inventions with different objects while learning about physics, is a favorite for my nine-year-old. They both have fun solving the puzzles and challenges in ThinkRolls and making music with Little Piano.
FreeTime Unlimited is free for an entire year when you purchase any Amazon Kids Edition tablet. After that it’s just $2.99 per month for Amazon Prime members.
