There are lots of theme parks to choose from for your family vaycays, but here’s one you might not have heard about—a Wizard of Oz theme park. Better still? It’s opening this summer! The Land of Oz recently announced they will open for nine days this June and this is one event Oz-enthusiasts won’t want to miss.
Located at North Carolina’s Beech Mountain Resort, the theme park built in the ’70s had weathered many a storm over the past several decades. Though it’s not open year-round anymore, the 2019 season is one you won’t want to miss!
If you plan on heading to Oz this summer, you’ll want to plan for Thursdays and Friday in June, in addition to Wed., Jun. 26. Guests will be able to take a “Journey with Dorothy” experience, a 45-minute tour down the Yellow Brick Road and through Oz with Dorothy herself!
Tickets for the tour cost $27.50 per person, with kids two and under being free. You’ll also need to purchase a $10 lift ticket from Beech Mountain to catch a ride up the mountain to Oz.
While you’re there, plan to do some extra celebrating. This year marks the 80th anniversary for the film and now if you’ll excuse us––we’re off to see the wizard!
