The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recently announced a recall for 24,000 Eddie Bauer Slumber and Soothe Rock Bassinets and Disney Baby Doze and Dream Bassinets manufactured by Dorel. Representatives from Dorel did immediately return Red Tricycle’s request for comment.
If you have one of these products, read on for important recall information.
Recalled Products: Eddie Bauer Slumber and Soothe Rock Bassinets and Disney Baby Doze and Dream Bassinets
The current recall includes the beige Eddie Bauer Slumber and Soothe Rock Bassinets (model number BT055CSY) and the purple Disney Baby Doze and Dream Bassinets (model number BT071DHS). The products are inclines sleepers with rectangular bottoms and cushioned fabrics. Each sleeper stands two feet off the floor and is made for babies up to six months.
Why the Bassinets Were Recalled
While there are no injuries or incidents reported with these products, similar products are at fault for several infant deaths. It’s possible for an infant to roll from their back to their stomach/side. This poses a serious safety risk.
How To Tell If Your Child’s Bassinet Was Recalled
Look for the model number (either BT055CSY or BT071DHS) on the underside of the inclined sleeper’s pad. The recalled products were sold at Target, Kmart, Ross, Marshalls, TJ Maxx and other children’s stores across the country from November 2014 through February 2017. The bassinets originally retailed for $60.
What Parents Can Do
If you have one of the recalled products stop using it immediately. Contact Dorel by phone at 877-657-9546 (8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday), by text at 812-373-6673 or via email at inclinesleeperrecall@djgusa.com for a $60 voucher.
