If you want to live out Cameron Diaz’s storyline from The Holiday, you can now do it in the actual English cottage that inspired the one in the movie
Fans of Christmas movies are no doubt familiar with The Holiday, an absolute classic of a film in which Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet play two unlucky-in-love women who trade homes and lives over the holidays. And now, those who want to live out their own Holiday can do just that — the quaint English cottage that inspired Winslet’s picturesque home in the movie is available to rent on Airbnb.
The three-bedroom cottage is tucked away in a rural village in Surrey, England and features a stone exterior, flagstone terrace, a lush garden, and the sweet country surroundings we all know and love from The Holiday. To be clear, though, this isn’t the exact cottage from the movie — it served as the inspiration for Winslet’s Rosehill Cottage, which was built on set for the film.
According to The Independent, the cottage is owned by Jon and Cressida Bromley, who bought it after they saw it in a real estate magazine. They had no idea that their home was a cinematic landmark until after they moved in and started to notice that strangers would stop and take photos of their house. After doing some research and learning about its significance, they decided to list it on Airbnb, where it’s available to rent for £295 pounds, or $356 dollars, a night.
While the inside of the cottage doesn’t look like the one that was built for The Holiday, it does have some modern amenities that might be appreciated (like a fully heated first floor).
If you want to book a stay in the cottage, you’re going to have to act fast—it’s already fully booked for most of the next few months. But if you’d like to spend a cozy holiday living out your dream life from The Holiday, now is the perfect time to start planning a getaway for next December. Just be advised that Jude Law probably won’t be drunkenly knocking at your door during your stay.
