This touching social post by Ree Drummond’s foster son will make you want to call your dad (or the other amazing father figure in your life)
If you follow the lives of “Pioneer Woman” Ree Drummond and her family, you surely know that, in addition to four kids of their own, Ree and her husband, Ladd, have also been foster parents to Jamar Goff for several years. And now, in a heartfelt Instagram post on Ladd’s birthday, Goff is celebrating his father figure with a touching tribute.
The post features a picture of Goff and both Drummonds on Goff’s signing day to play football for the University of Central Oklahoma.
“I’ve been blessed with the best father figure I could possibly ask for,” Goff wrote in the caption. “The smartest, strongest, most dedicated, and devoted man I know. You’ve taught me more things than you know and you’re still teaching me.”
He continued, “Thank you for everything you’ve done and everything you’re doing, I couldn’t be more grateful for the man I get to call ‘dad.’ Happy Birthday!! Don’t work too hard.”
The sweet message comes after Drummond opened up on the Today show about how Goff has become a permanent member of the family.
“He’s been living with us for over a year and a half,” she said during the 2020 appearance on the show. “Ladd, my husband, and myself never set out to be foster parents. But Jamar’s circumstances kind of presented themselves, and he’s just a full-on member of our family.”
Drummond has also featured Goff on her social media, including when she recreated a childhood Easter photo of her four children, and sweetly included him in the updated version.
“Swipe to see the recreated photo,” she wrote in the caption. “(Then swipe again!!!) 😊 I love these pookie heads a lot.”
It just goes to show that it’s not blood that makes a family—it’s love, and the Drummonds clearly have plenty of it to go around.
