Peter Billingsley stars in the follow-up film to the Christmas classic we didn’t know we needed

Ho, ho, ho––the Christmas season just got more exciting! HBO Max dropped the first full length trailer for A Christmas Story Christmas, the sequel to the 1983 film that is a cult classic to fans everywhere.

The trailer shows Ralphie and his gang of friends together again… almost 40 years later. In the process of tryin to give his kids the same kind of magical Christmas he had in his childhood, he realizes just how hard his dad worked to make his special. Cue tears of nostalgia, as the trailer shows the friends drinking to the memory of Ralphie’s dad.

According to IMDB, the film is set in the 1970s where Ralphie returns to Cleveland Street to give his kids a Christmas like he remembers growing up. “With the same attention to real-life tone of the first, Ralphie reconnects with childhood friends, reconciles the passing of his Old Man and sows the seeds for the origins of the beloved holiday classic,” says the logline.

Will a Red Ryder Carbine Action 200-shot Range Model air rifle make a cameo? We hope so.

A Christmas Story Christmas Cast

Aside from Billingsley’s obvious return, plenty of original cast members are reprising their roles as well. Ian Petrella (Randy), Zack Ward (Farkus), Scott Schwartz (Flick) and R.D. Robb (Schwarz) are returning, in addition to newcomers that include Erinn Hayes, River Drosche, Julianna Layne and Julie Hagerty.

The script was written and executive produced by Nick Schenk and directed by Clay Kaytis.
