Families looking to book an over-the-top rental for 2023 should head right to Airbnb’s new “Play” category where you’ll find properties that are a kid’s dream come true. Think glow-in-the-dark mini golf, an airplane playground, a personal splash pad, and even an ice hockey rink—just for your family to enjoy. Now you can easily find these family-friendly rentals and book them for your next vacation. Here are some of our favorites:
This 12-bedroom home in Florida has so many cool features you’re going to want to check out the listing for yourself. The castle-themed bedroom will definitely be a top pick for the kids and the movie theater that feels like you are inside a rocket is a highlight. We know the glow-in-the-dark mini golf will also get a lot of action.
Cool off from the Arizona sun in your own splash pad with everyone’s favorite dumping buckets at this rental that sleeps 13. Known as “The Playhouse Retreat,” everything your family needs is under this roof from pack n’ plays to strollers to car seats. The backyard features a fenced-in swimming pool and an awesome kids’ play area with 14 playhouses and tons of mini bikes to ride on the kid-sized streets.

In addition to the new “Play” category, Airbnb is rolling out five more categories:
- New – homes added within the past 10 weeks
- Top of the World – homes above 10,000 feet
- Trending – rentals that have received a high number of views
- Adapted – home adapted for wheelchair access
- Hanoks – traditional Korean homes constructed of natural materials
All of these categories can be accessed via the icons at the top of the homepage. Airbnb is also rolling out more improvements to their search functionality and will be providing helpful information like distance from a national park when searching for rentals near a national park.
