For this take on a resist painting, Christine of Where the Smiles Have Been used vinyl letters to spell out her son's milestone birthday. She smartly chose complementary colors that coordinated with her son's bedroom, and has some great tips for dealing with the inevitable mess factor: strip your little one down to a diaper before passing out the finger paint, and maybe move the whole operation outside for easy clean up after the resident artist is done.
