Elaine Melko of So Silly Stuff

When Elaine was pregnant with her first son, she decided to take a silk screening class. She enjoyed herself so much that she decided to start silk screening children’s t-shirts, and So Silly Stuff was born. She does all of her silk screening work by hand in the basement of her Avondale home, and sells her pieces in her Etsy shop. With a paintbrush or Nikon D3 in hand, she also loves to exercise her talents in photography and illustrating for her column in the Chicago Tribune. She enjoys creating works of art with her kids because she describes art as something that, "is no risk, just let yourself create without worrying what anyone else is thinking.”
