Sarita Rampersad’s dad stole the show

Fans of Harry Styles go to great lengths to prepare for his concerts, and Sarita Rampersad’s dad, Nari, is no exception. For his daughter’s 16th birthday, he surprised her with tickets to both nights of Styles’ sold-out “Love on Tour” concert at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto—and checked all the boxes to ensure he’d fit right in.

Sarita, who has been a big fan of Styles since she was seven, told TODAY she created a vision board on Pinterest in 2018 in the event she was ever lucky enough to attend. Sarita informed her dad (“I didn’t ask,” she said) that the first night they would wear coordinating blue and pink outfits in honor of Styles’ “Fine Line” album “because that’s the album when I finally got my dad to start listening to Harry too,” she explained.

She said the pair hit the thrift stores to achieve the look. “Seeing her happy is just pretty much all I want,” he said. “I knew Harry would put on a good show, but I was living through her. Her excitement pushed mine to a different level.” He continued: “She had the idea for the outfits, but I did find two pairs of pants myself.”

Sarita posted videos of her and her dad on TikTok getting ready for the big night, and they’ve rightly gone viral. Nari, who is father to two other daughters, said he wanted to attend with Sarita because “it’s the experiences that count.”

The Rampersads ended up sporting flared pants, cowboy hats, boas, and matching white Doc Maartens. “The Docs were non-negotiable,” he said. “She told me not to bring a suit or running shoes, but the Docs had to come. They didn’t hurt my feet as much as I feared.”

“I found everything in the women’s section!” he explained, but quickly found the problem women have complained about forever. “It fit so much better than the men’s clothing! But nothing had pockets. How do you live without pockets? We had to buy a tote bag to carry my wallet and phone!”

Sarita said she was thrilled to go with her dad because, “I knew he would put in the work. He was so good,” she said. “The months leading up to the concert, he was using Spotify to read the lyrics to the songs, because fans will yell at you if you get the words wrong. He was studying. Lots of my friends wouldn’t do that.”
