“You guys act like you love all of them the same and you don’t”

Any parent who has multiple kids has been asked by those multiple kids which one is the favorite. And any decent parent will tell them the same thing: “I love you all equally.” Behind closed doors, though? Do we secretly have a preference? Are we re-arranging them all the time like a Myspace Top Eight? NFL legend Deion Sanders is doing just that—and he’s calling out all the other parents who say they don’t.

Sanders is currently the head football coach at Colorado, and the team’s latest win came after his son, Shilo Sanders, 23, forced two turnovers. Following the game, a reporter asked if that might just have Shilo moving up the rankings. “He is moving up. He is moving on up like the Jeffersons, but [son] Shedeur is straight-up balling too.”

There’s tough competition in the Sanders family, though. He added that his daughter, Shelomi (AKA Bossy), “came in and gave me the biggest hug and kiss and appreciation for Daddy that she could ever give me at the end of the game, so that was great.” And he shouted out another of his sons, Deion Jr., for doing “fascinating” social media work for his clothing brand, Well Off.

“It’s tough. My kids’ rankings are tough,” Sanders said. “It’s a serious run right now—it really is.”

But Sanders went on to call out other parents who don’t rank their kids like he does, saying, “I’m the only one that’s honest about ranking my kids. You guys act like you love all of them the same and you don’t. I don’t know why y’all act like that.”

This isn’t the first time Sanders has made his preferences known—in 2022, he posted “power rankings” of all his kids on Instagram in celebration of his “favorite son” Deion, Jr.’s birthday. Though he’s since deleted that post, we still think it’s tongue-in-cheek—it’s clear there’s plenty of love to go around in the Sanders family.

Hey, it may be true that every parent does it, but you won’t catch every parent admitting it.
