The lovable little girl your kiddo watches on repeat is getting an age upgrade! Grab some popcorn and get ready for the live-action Dora The Explorer trailer—because this flick isn’t what you’d expect from the perfect-for-preschoolers original Nick Jr. show.
Forget about the adventures young Dora tackles in the original Nickelodeon cartoon. In Dora and the Lost City of Gold the now-teenage heroine is taking on an even wilder type of exploration—high school. Of course, that’s not all.
During a museum field trip Dora, not-so-surpringly, finds herself in hot water—or rather, a wooden crate. Mysterious captors take the kid-no-more character to the jungle for a very adult-ish adventure. Along with a few high school friends, spunky teen Dora sets out to save her parents (played by Eva Longoria and Michael Peña) in the Lost City of Gold.
Judging by the trailer, this is not a film for your toddler or preschooler. There’s action, arrows, a big knife and yes, Dora’s BFF Boots. Even though the littles totally delight in all things Dora, this live-action adventure is better suited for the older kiddo.
Dora and the Lost City of Gold opens nationwide on Aug. 2, 2019.
