About this Event

Nearly 90 years elapsed between the end of the Civil War and the beginning of the Civil Rights movement, and mainstream history classes often gloss over the African-American experience of this long and crucial period. In this class, students will examine Jim Crow segregation laws, voting restrictions, and other tactics and policies that sought to deny Blacks the freedom promised after the Civil War--and how many of those policies still affect us even today.
