Academy Museum of Motion Pictures debuts Regeneration Black Cinema 1898 – 1971. The first exhibition of its ­kind will be a rigorous and celebratory exploration of the achievements and challenges of Black filmmakers in the United States since the dawn of cinema to the Civil Rights Movement. Filmmakers Ava DuVernay and Charles Burnett are among the exhibition’s advisers.
