Note: The Hale’s Palladium and Broadway Performance Hall performances are festival-style seating; doors will open a half-hour before showtime. About:
The Moisture Festival is an annual, month-long celebration of bizarre and unique variety taking place at Hale’s Palladium in Fremont and Broadway Performance Hall on Capitol Hill. Presented as a variety show, each act or artist performs their routine within a 3-15 minute time slot while being accompanied by a live show band. With both national and international performers, audiences are likely to see something familiar and something totally new and unique every year.

Celebrating more than 30 years as one of King County’s longest running youth arts festivals, you don’t want to miss this year’s Kids’ Arts Day.

Families can experience over 15 different hands-on art projects lead by professional artists and enjoy face painting, food concessions and stage entertainment by Kent School district entertainers.

Note: Lunch, snacks and beverages will be available for purchase or you may bring your own.

 

This annual Irish celebration will feature non-stop Irish music, signing and dancing, art and cultural displays (including educational workshops and lectures), as well as Irish/Celtic vendor booths, children’s contests and activities, Irish short films, and information about Seattle’s active Irish community.

Events for children include the “Smilingest Irish Eyes Contest” and the “Most Irish-Looking Face Contest”, and other activities in the Children’s Activities Center. Psst! On Sunday afternoon, there’s even a drawing for a free vacation to Ireland!

Put on your green garb, lace up your tennies and particpate in the Kirkland Shamrock 5K, 10K and Kid’s Race. This Eastside event is a fun-filled road race celebrating Kirkland, healthy living and, of course, St. Patrick’s Day! Come join multitudes of other Irish culture enthusiasts on March 16 to run or walk through downtown Kirkland. Benefiting local non-profits, this event has become a tradition for many area residents. Psst…be sure to join the post-race party at Wilde Rover for a pint! Register by February 16, 2019 to guarantee your shirt size.

The Kid’s Race will once again take place after the main race (at approximately 10 a.m.). This will be a short jaunt around Marina Park for wee ones. The price is $15 and includes a medal, bib and kid’s shirt. The Kid’s Race is not chip timed and the course is about 0.4 miles long and all kids get to run through the race start and finish archways.

Note: There is no age limit for the kid’s race and if your child is not confident running solo you are welcome to run with them. The 5K course starts and begins at Marina Park, located at 25 Lakeshore Plaza Dr. 5K starts at 9 a.m.; Kid’s Race starts at 10 a.m.  

New for 2019: 10K option and 5K course is USATF certified.

Welcome spring and celebrate all-things-green at Seattle’s St. Patrick’s Day Dash—one of the city’s liveliest annual races. At the race, expect to find plenty of strollers in a sea of runners participating in the annual race. Kids already itching to dress up for Halloween will love this run since many of the participants don Irish-themed costumes.

Just for kids 10 & under, the nearly one-mile Leprechaun Lap will start bright and early at 8 a.m. Awards will be presented for “Best Decorated Stroller” and “Best Young Leprechaun” after the 5K. Psst…be sure to check out the Post Dash Bash and the Leprechaun-inspired activities.

Sometimes St. Patrick’s Day is not St. Patrick’s Day without a pub. And Kells, in Pike Place Market, serves up food, drink, dancing and live Irish music to a festive crowd every year. This is a marathon celebration that will start on Wednesday, March 13 and last through March 17, with special hours and a festival tent starting on March 15.

Want to get out of town for the day? Meet in the parking lot of Woodsmiths and the Habitat for Humanity store, at the corner of Cornwall Ave. and Ohio, and join traditional pipe and marching bands, dancers and floats as Bellingham launches its own “green” version of a St. Patrick’s Day parade by celebrating and inspiring sustainability in the hope of making its city a cleaner, greener, safer place to call home.

Participants are encouraged to decorate their floats with recycled and reusable materials, make leprechaun costumes by shopping at one of Bellingham’s many thrift stores and either bike or walk to the parade.

Note: If participating in the parade, plan to arrive at the staging area between 11 a.m. & 11:30 a.m.; parade starts at noon. Registration is required for cars, floats, musical groups and horses!

The Green Stripe is a mini-parade to put a green stripe down the center of 4th Ave., to mark the route of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The stripe will follow the parade route from 4th Ave. (starting at Jefferson St) and up to Westlake Park, a distance of about one mile. Most participants gather at the old F X McRory’s at 6:30 p.m. to ride the flat-bed truck up to the parade route. There’s no admission fee and children and familes are very welcome to ride the covered truck!

At Westlake, you can watch the Irish Club paint a large shamrock on the street and participate in an impromptu Crossroads Céili dance. Each year, anyone and everyone is invited to come along for the ‘craic’ – an Irish (Gaelic) word meaning “a lot of fun.”
