Gabrielle Union’s Daughter Calls Out Her Bad Breath in Hilarious Video

Gabrielle Union and Dwayne Wade‘s 3-year old is way cooler than we are. Her nickname is “Shady Baby,” she’s inspired a picture book and already starred in her famous mom’s Instagram reel. But you’d better not cross her. This baby calls it like she sees it.

Kaavia James Union Wade tells her mom—the Being Mary Jane actress, 49‚ to “watch this” as she blows into her hand. Understandably, Union asks, “Is that ’cause my breath stinks?” (3-year olds can send such mixed messages). “Yeah,” the tot quickly replies. Dang.

“So what should Mommy do since her breath stinks?” ask Union. Luckily—like most toddlers—Kaavia knows just what to do and instructs her mom to blow her breath into her hand, smiling at the camera with satisfaction as the video ends.

“It be your own kids,” Union wrote over the video, along with a couple of laughing emojis. “@kaaviajames is something else,” she added in the caption.

Union and Wade’s sense of humor seems to be rubbing off on the tyke. In January, she and Union sported matching hairpieces in a video the actress posted, when mom started kidding around with the camera, saying “Oh let me tell you about the time I was in Belgium … ” In her best foreign accent, she said to her daughter “Remember we were ordering Aperol spritzes, and it upset your tummy? Do you remember? You said, ‘I don’t do public restrooms,’ and it was a whole thing in Belgium, remember?”

We’re not exactly sure what Kaavia said, but she mumbled something to her mom (in 10 more years, we’d bet she said something along the lines of “moooohm. stoop,” but since she’s only 3, who knows?), to which Union responded, “Yes, and that’s how you got out of it.”

Posting this video on her feed, Union captioned it “Why are we like this?!” and “Can’t take us anywhere!!!! 🤣😂🤣😂@kaaviajames whhhyyyyyyyyy.”
