General Mills is re-releasing Franken Berry, Count Chocula, Boo-Berry and Frute Brute Monster Cereals

Cereal and childhood are nearly synonymous. Nothing beat waking up on a Saturday morning, pouring a gigantic bowl of cereal and settling in for some weekend cartoons––unless your mom never let the sugar variety in the house.

Now you can fully re-embrace your youth, thanks to General Mills. The brand is bringing back Franken Berry, Count Chocula, Boo-Berry and Frute Brute Monster Cereals with limited-edition packaging!

Designed by American artist and monster enthusiast KAWS (aka Brian Donnelly), the vintage-style boxes are inspired by classic horror film characters. “It’s been a thrill to collaborate with General Mills and Monster Cereals,” says KAWS. “I’ve been a big fan of the cereals since I was a kid. Even now, I love the original box designs and the creativity and imagination they invoke.”

While Franken Berry, Count Chocula and Boo-Berry have made several comebacks over the years since they debuted in 1971, this is the first time since 2013 that Frute Brute is returning to shelves. The cult classic cereal is highly sought after by collectors “in part due to its appearances across various blockbuster movies in the 1990s,” says General Mills.

“Our Monster Cereals are some of our most iconic, and while we know fans are always excited to see them, we want to be sure that we’re able to offer something new and different with each release,” said Mindy Murray, senior marketing communications manager at General Mills.

Franken Berry, Count Chocula, Boo-Berry and Frute Brute are already available at retailers nationwide. To make the limited release more special, each box comes with a unique code on the back that fans can enter on for a chance to win a set of four KAWS-designed collectible prizes of each character.
