The smash hit, Tony Award-winning Matilda the Musical is about to spark a revolt on the NWCT stage. An inspiring, heart-breaking, captivating masterpiece, Matilda revels in the anarchy of childhood, the power of imagination, and a girl who won’t let being “little” stop her from putting an unjust world right.

Matilda the Musical is based on the Roald Dahl book, and is most enjoyed by ages 6 and up. The powerful music and lyrics, written by Tim Minchin, encourage kids to advocate for themselves and write their own story.

Matilda runs on the NWCT mainstage from December 7 – January 5, with most shows at noon and 4:30pm. Tickets range from $16-27.

NWCT also offers a Winter Break Matilda-themed camp for grades K-5, December 30 – January 3 (no camp on January 1). Tuition includes a ticket to the mainstage show!

Portland’s favorite holiday tradition continues for the 17th year, as Oregon Ballet Theatre presents George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker®  Dec. 7-26, 2019, at Keller Auditorium. Immerse yourself in this magical journey for children of all ages — and starring children of all ages.

Last year more than 48,000 people delighted in the swirling snowflakes, glorious scenery, and lavish costumes as Marie, the Sugar Plum Fairy, and the Prince adventured through the Land of Sweets in this perennial favorite.

OBT’s production of The Nutcracker features 12 live OBT Orchestra performances which truly brings Tchaikovsky’s unforgettable score to life. The company remains one of only a handful in the nation with the rights to produce George Balanchine’s version of this magical holiday classic.

Kevin Cook, a.k.a. Poison Waters, will return again this year, bringing crowd-pleasing life — and comedy — to his role as Mother Ginger. And the lobby boutiques will be open at each performance so families can take home some Nutcracker magic after the show.
