This photo of a special moment between JJ Watt and his son, Koa, will warm your heart
While fans may have been surprised by Arizona Cardinals defensive lineman JJ Watt’s shocking announcement that he planned to retire, it’s clear that the NFL star is focusing on what’s most important in his life. In a sweet photo shared by his wife, Watt can be seen spending some special time with his newborn son, Koa, before taking the field for the final game of his career.
Kealia Watt shared the photo on Sunday, showing Watt sitting on a couch, spit-up rag slung over his shoulder, feeding Koa a bottle. The sweet moment was captured just a few hours before Watt played the San Francisco 49ers in California in the final game of his NFL career.
“4 hours before his last NFL game ever 😍 we love you @jjwatt,” Kealia wrote alongside the heartwarming snap.
Spending as much time as possible with 10-week-old Koa seems to have been at least part of the motivation behind Watt’s surprise announcement that he planned to retire. On Dec. 27, he tweeted a photo of himself holding his son on the field, writing, “Koa’s first ever NFL game.”

To fans’ surprise, he added, “My last ever NFL home game. My heart is filled with nothing but love and gratitude. It’s been an absolute honor and a pleasure.”
Back in October, Watt and Kealia announced the birth of their son in a sweet Instagram post.
“Love and happiness have reached heights we never even knew existed,” they wrote alongside a photo of them smiling at the hospital, holding their new little boy. “Koa James Watt, 10.23.22.”
We wish this adorable family nothing but the best as they embark on a new part of their lives, and we hope they enjoy every sweet moment they have together.
