Game of Thrones fans have been not-so-patiently waiting for any and all spinoff series to give us more time with our favorite characters. This week, Jon Snow followers have a glimmer of hope when Hollywood Reporter confirmed a spinoff is currently underway at HBO.
Kit Harington is set to reprise his role as Snow (aka Aegon Targaryen), the burly, slightly cranky heir to the Iron Throne. The series would take place after the events of Game of Thrones, which ended in 2019, much to the chagrin of its millions of loyal watchers.

If anyone needs a refresher, Snow ended up murdering his aunt/lover Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and was sent to live out his remaining days at Castle Black with the not-yet murdered Wildlings.
There is no word if any of his half-siblings Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) or Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) will make a cameo or (one can dream) recurring role in the show. Of course, they are probably still busy with their day jobs of being Queen in the North and professional traveller respectively, but this is called a fantasy series for a reason.
Of course, this isn’t the first spinoff to happen since GoT ended. HBO’s upcoming spinoff House of the Dragon, which is set 200 years before the original series, premieres on Aug. 21. Other spinoffs include Tales of Dunk and Egg, 10,000 Ships, 9 Voyages, and Flea Bottom.

The twice-nominated Emmy actor struggled with the newfound fame when GoT first aired, particularly following the king in the North’s death, which took place in season 5. “It was probably one of the darkest periods I have been through in my life,” he told Emmy magazine in April 2019. “I think it must have had something to do with being a walking cliffhanger; I didn’t enjoy it.”
Lucky for him, he’s got millions of fans that have been waiting with bated breath for him to reprise Snow’s character, and even though there’s no title or release date yet, we can take stock in knowing that some point in the future we will see him back where he was clearly born to be.
