No one likes getting a parking ticket. Paying a hefty fine for what seems like a simple infraction is never fun. But if you live in Las Vegas (or get a ticket there) now you can do some good just by paying your fine.
The Las Vegas City Council recently approved a temporary plan to trade parking fees for school supplies. So if you get a ticket in Las Vegas between Jun. 19 and Jul. 19, 2019 you can pay it off with much-needed educational accessories.

According to a press release from the city of Las Vegas, anyone with a parking infraction between Jun. 19 and Jul. 19 can donate new, unwrapped school supplies instead of charging their card, writing a check or otherwise paying their fine. Donations must match or exceed the value of the parking ticket (a purchase receipt is required). Drivers, or rather parkers, have 30 days from the time they get the ticket to bring their supply donation to the Parking Services Offices at 500 S. Main Street.
The month-long program, which was initially adopted as an occasional alternative option in 2016, allows donations of items such as pencils, pens, erasers, dry erase markers, index cards, paper towels, disinfecting wipes, card stock, copy paper, storage bins, rulers, scissors, pencil sharpeners and post-it notes.
