You favorite brick maker has just dropped the ultimate 80’s nostalgic building kit: the LEGO Atari 2600 set! Now, you can create one of the most famous video game consoles of all time that comes just in time for its 50th anniversary.

Officially going on sale in August, the retro set brings back the best the 80’s had to offer. The black and orange console is recreated in all its glory, including a joystick and game consoles to complete the set which will look pretty tubular on display.

In addition to all the pieces you need to construct the console itself (which has a switch to select if you have a black or white TV), the set also come with three iconic Atari video game cartridges: Asteroids, Adventure and Centipede. The cartridges can be be stored in a case and also be transformed into mini versions of the game!

Uber Atari fan Chris McVeigh was chosen as the LEGO Designer for the new set. “The Atari 2600 was one of the most memorable gifts I got as a kid. I recall spending hours and hours in front of the TV, absolutely amazed that I could play arcade games in my own home. There were so many legendary titles, too, including Asteroids, Adventure, and Centipede. This is why it has been such an incredible experience to bring two icons together, Atari and LEGO, in this awesome set. We hope that building this classic console takes you back to those halcyon days when a handful of pixels meant a world of adventure,” says McVeigh.

The LEGO Atari 2600 set is geared towards builders 18 and older, and comes with 2,532 pieces. Once assembled, the console measures over three inches high, eight and a half inches deep and 13 inches long.

You can purchase the set starting Aug. 1, 2022 at LEGO Stores and at LEGO.com/Atari for $240.
