Creepy Crawlies and Animal Antics

Arachnids Come Alive at the NHM
What's creepy, crawly and has eight legs? Spiders of course! And the Natural History Museum has dozens of them on display for you to view and learn about. From fangs and eyes to webs and burrows, find out why we could never live without our arachnid friends. You can see these web dwellers all month long. Event details.

Boo at the Zoo
This year, Boo at the Zoo is a month long celebration of Halloween fun. Get up close and personal with tarantulas, scorpions, snakes and more at the "Animals and Boos" encounter. During the weekends, enjoy spooky puppet shows, pumpkin carving demonstrations, special animal feedings and more. And if you're still looking for something to do the weekend before Halloween, visit for a chance to Trick or Treat around the zoo and partake in some boo-tiful arts and crafts. Event details.

Moorpark's Boo at the Teaching Zoo
Every kiddo in costume gets a Zoo BINGO card upon entry to the teaching zoo and it takes them on a learning path through the animals. When all squares are filled they head to the kids fun zone and receive a bag o’ treats! There will also be animal shows, costume contest, a parade, face painting and games. Takes place Oct. 28 & 29. Event details.

Scarium at the Aquarium
How does costume and creepy coloring contests, magic shows, underwater pumpkin carving, spooky storytelling, and kooky crafts, sound? Head on down to Long Beach for their annual Scarium at the Aquarium where you can also meet eerie animals in the Great Hall. Spider crabs and vampire squids anyone? Takes place Oct. 14 & 15.
