Macklemore has a new music video coming out—and he tapped someone very special in his life to direct it

It’s been a minute since rapper Macklemore has been a huge force in the music scene. Since releasing his mega hit “Thrift Shop” in 2012, he’s had other things to focus on: namely, his growing family. But as his kids are getting older, Macklemore is getting back in the game—and keeping his family involved in the sweetest ways.

This week, Macklemore posted a video to his Instagram where he talks about his new song, “No Bad Days,” and his plans for its upcoming music video. He’s chatting with his 7-year-old daughter, Sloane, in the clip, and it has a twist ending: Macklemore asks Sloane to direct the music video.

“I’m a little bit nervous asking you this, if I’m being honest,” he can be seen saying to his daughter as the video begins. He goes on to talk about some producing work she’s done recently, saying, “You knew exactly what you wanted. I was so impressed with your work ethic; with your eye. I love your visual aesthetic—I absolutely love your style.”

From the video, you can tell Sloane still has no idea what’s up as her dad starts talking about how he’s been “trying to think of a music video for ‘No Bad Days.'” But she looks up at him and her face lights up as he says, “Crazy idea, if you don’t like it we don’t have to do it. ‘No Bad Days,’ music video … I need a director.”

Little Sloane then covers her mouth with her hand in shock before shouting, “Yes!” and throwing herself into her dad’s arms for a huge hug. And just like that, who’s cutting onions in here?

At the end of the video, Sloane is already putting on her director hat, as she turns to face the camera and hilariously says, “Action.” The music video for “No Bad Days” is set to debut on March 3, and we can already tell it’s going to be great, with this duo at the helm.

Sloane is one of three children Macklemore shares with his wife, Tricia Davis—they’re also parents to 4-year-old Colette and 1-year-old Hugo.
