If the gray winter slush and sludge have left you saying, “Ewww,” every time you go outside, fear not.  A surefire way to inject some color and fun back into your family’s life is to check out one of the many new kid-friendly museum exhibits around the city. From graffiti art to Italian Futurism, these seven exhibits will leave you pumped and ready for the springtime.

“Facts of the Matter” at Socrates Sculpture Park in Midtown

The Art: Just like a bird that flies to warmer climes in the winter, an exhibit sponsored by the outdoor Socrates Sculpture Park has migrated to an indoor gallery in midtown Manhattan. On display in the lobby of UBS headquarters (a.k.a. 1285 Avenue of the Americas Art Gallery), “Facts of the Matter” features more than 20 pieces of sculpture by nine artists. Each artist uses a specific material like rubber tires, scorched wood, or Styrofoam, that is then transformed into something beautiful and even majestic.

Fun for Kids: Kids will like the bigness of the sculpture and have fun when they recognize that the artwork’s raw materials are something they may see every day.

Insider Tip: Because the gallery is located inside a financial institution, you won’t have to worry about crowds or pay for tickets.
