Prepare yourselves parents: Caillou is back. The loved-by-preschoolers show which ended in 2010 is ready to make a brand new comeback and torture a whole new generation of parents.

Peacock has announced it is bringing back the Canadian character with an original CGI reboot, aptly named Caillou. Not only that, the streaming provider has also gained the rights to five 44-minute Caillou event specials, several of which will occur over the holidays.

Oh joy.

So will the new show be just as obnoxious as the OG version? While we’ve yet to catch any actual episodes, Peacock shares that they will run for 11 minutes in a CG-animated format. The show will focus on a “sensitive” four-year-old boy, Caillou, and his family and friends who “help him navigate his big feelings.” No word yet on whether that includes the excess whining the character is famous for.

It sounds like Caillou will continue to use his imagination to create imaginary situations where he overcomes strong emotions and big problems. The show will feature 52 episodes which is set to roll out as part of new Peacocks Originals kids programming in 2023.

Do you need more Caillou in your life? Get ready for plenty of specials! So far, Peacock will air five 44-minute event specials with storylines focusing on Christmas, Halloween, Summer Vacation, Celebration of Family and Anti-Bullying. Focusing on significant childhood situations, the stories provide a longer format where Caillou can dig into deeper his imagination to overcome struggles.

It’s been less than a year since PBS put Caillou reruns on the chopping block, hardly enough time for parents to recover from the character’s “reign of terror.” Thankfully, the new show isn’t set to air until next year––ample time for your preschooler to suddenly outgrow the bald, whiny four-year-old. Wink, wink.
