For the Adventurous Dad

If dad likes a little adrenaline rush, you can get his heart pounding at Tree to Tree Adventure Park. There he can ascent approximately 25 feet into the tree canopy and spend hours exploring the six-level aerial obstacle course filled with wobbly bridges, tight ropes, balance beams, zip lines, and more. Meanwhile, kids will have a blast climbing like monkeys or exploring obstacles in specially-designed areas. The park also has a 1200-foot long zip line and walking trails. Tree to Tree Adventure Park adheres closely to and follows recommendations from federal, state and local agencies including the centers for disease control and prevention (CDC) and the world’s health organization (WHO). They implement strict cleaning and social distancing policies and offer free climbing gloves to all participants.

Cost: Adventures start at $45/person and up

For the Active Dad

Head to Timberline

With miles of trails around and plenty of waterfalls to discover (like Little Zig Zag Falls), Dad will love the chance to get out his hiking boots at Timberline Lodge. Back at the lodge, refuel with a hearty meal lunch in the Cascade Dining Room. Please note: seating is limited, reservations are strongly encouraged and face masks are required. Then let him relax with his pick of favorite brews by Mt. Hood Brewing Company. Cap the day off with one of the most popular summer activities here, riding a chair lift to the top of the 7,000’ mountain. It’s a 30-minute round trip, or 2 hours if you want to walk down.

Address: 27500 E Timberline Rd.
Timberline Lodge, Or

Go Fishing!

If your dad loves the outdoor and the excitement of reeling in the catch of the day, grab the reels and rods and head out for a day of fishing. Blue Lake Park is stocked with a variety of species, this lake offers bank fishing or an ADA accessible dock along with beautiful views. Make the day extra special and rent a boat to get out on the water. For more ideas on where to take dad fishing, check out this list of awesome nearby fishing holes.
