Tierra Del Sol
This cheerful, family-owned and -operated food cart has been a Portland Mercado staple since its opening in 2015. Along with quesadillas and tetela de frijol, the cart serves Oaxacan-style tacos made with its signature handmade organic blue corn tortillas with a choice of meats (pollo, al pastor, carne asada) or veggie stew. For those craving a sweet treat afterwards, the market is also home to a fruit bar and a churro cart.

Tamale Boy
Best known for authentic Oaxacan and Northern Mexican tamales, this former food truck also dishes up some seriously good tacos at both its brick-and-mortar locations. Choose from a variety of meat and vegetarian fillings, including tinga de pollo, carnitas, hongo y epazote (spiced mushrooms), and al pastor (pork marinated in chile guajillo sauce and pineapple). Don’t forget to try the house-made guacamole.

A neighborhood success story, for years El Gallo operated as a food cart near the Woodstock Library before opening its cozy new brick-and-mortar storefront just a few blocks west. The expanded menu offers various meat, vegetarian, and vegan tacos, including the not-to-miss pacific snapper fish tacos. Prefer your tortillas crunchy? Order the gringo. There’s also a kids menu for los niños.
