Parents are very familiar with Radio Flyer for its red wagons, tricycles, and ride-on toys, but did you know that they have a line of eBikes? You’ll want to check them all out, especially their new Flyer Via, the longtail eBike that’s ready to cart your kids and your gear on your next family outing.

NEW: Flyer Via

Flyer

Flyer really has tuned in on what families want with the new Flyer Via. This longtail eBike can carry up to two kids or a lot of groceries in back, with a variety of attachments to get you there safely. The base model comes with the Kid & Cargo™ Carrier Hoop so that you have two kids ages 5-10 ride in the back. We got to try out the Via and found that it felt quite zippy, especially considering its size. The additional attachments are easy to add and remove as needed, and kids felt comfortable seated in the back.

An additional canopy is great for those who ride in places where the weather is less than ideal, as it will totally enclose the kids in the back. If you want to use your Via to bring groceries from the farmer’s market, you’ll want to add on a couple of totes that provide a solid structure that attaches to the hoop. If you’re porting around a younger kid, add on the Thule® Yepp Nexxt 2 Maxi Seat that attaches right to the frame. Upgrade to the Via Pro, and you’ll get a 750W motor, suspension fork, 8-speed gear shifter, and high-intensity headlight. Base Model Cost: $2,199 (Via), $2,499 (Via Pro).

Flyer L880—Midtail Fat Tire Electric Cargo Bike
You’ll love the versatility of this smaller option that comes with a shorter cargo rack that’s perfect for popping on a rear storage basket to transport a small cooler or sports gear. As with the longtail, the rear rack on the midtail is integrated into the bike’s frame, so you don’t have to worry about flimsy connection points. Add on the Flyer Duoflex to the back and you can bring two kids along for the ride.

We had a chance to give it a try, and our teen tester found that the 5-level pedal assist and 3-inch tires definitely make for a comfortable ride around the neighborhood. Parents will appreciate that the motor automatically cuts off when you brake. Optional accessories like the front storage basket are well thought out, with zippered pockets for keys and other small items. Base Cost: $1,799.

Flyer Folding Cargo
If you need a cargo eBike that folds up small for easy storage, look no further than this model from Flyer. You’ll be able to ride at speeds of up to 20 mph to get you to work or the farmer’s market in a flash. The base model includes a Kid & Cargo™ Carrier designed to bring one kid along with you. Base Cost: $1,899.

Good to Know:
Flyer eBikes ship almost fully assembled, and there’s a super-helpful video that walks you through all the steps. Or, have your eBike shipped to a local bike store for assembly there.
