Here at Red Tricycle, it’s not about the candy. Nope, it’s the wigs, sequins, and face paint that really get us going on Halloween. Every year we are wowed by all the jaw-dropping homemade costumes out there; many are made by Red Tricycle readers! We’ve collected our favorite ideas below—flip through the slideshow below for some spook-tacular inspiration.

We want to hear from you! Show us an amazing ensemble you put together — just send a photo to our National Editor (gabby@tinybeans.go-vip.net), along with your child’s name and age, and we’ll add your creation to our story!

Marvelous Mulan

Before Red Tricycle’s tech writer Kipp Cheng became a dad, he was the uncle who used to make elaborate, hand-sewn Halloween costumes for his niece and nephew. When she was little, his niece Mica loved Mulan, so one year I made her a Mulan costume and made Mica's brother Avi a Mushu costume. Both Mica and Avi are now grown and in college, but we’re betting they look back at these costumes with fondness!

If you’d like to showcase your DIY kids costume, send a photo with your kids name and age to our National Editor (gabby@tinybeans.go-vip.net) and we’ll publish our favorites.

Let us know in the comment section below what your kids are wearing this year for Halloween!
