Teriyaki chicken wings are the ideal meal for your kiddos — not only are they fun to eat with your hands, but they are sweet, too. For the moms and dads out there who are more concerned with how long this will take to make, fear not, because this meal can be made in a cinch. In fact, Red Tricycle’s Managing Editor enjoyed these same teriyaki chicken wings growing up, though little did she know that this favorite meal of her childhood was always on the table when her mom had a busy day and needed to whip up a meal pronto.

Ingredients:
1/2 cup of soy sauce
1/2 cup of sugar
a splash of sake (if you have it)
1 tsp of grated ginger
chicken wings
2 1/2 to 3 pounds of chicken wings

Method:
1. Cut the tip of the chicken wing off and discard it.

2. In a deep pan pour in the soy sauce just about enough to cover the entire bottom of the pan. Add the sugar and whisk it around with the soy sauce to taste. If it’s too salty add more sugar and if it’s too sweet, add more soy sauce. Add a splash of sake and the ginger.

3. Stick the wings in, skin side down, and cook on medium heat for about 7-10 minutes until the teriyaki sauce starts simmering.

4. Flip the wings over and cook for another 7-8 minutes, checking to make sure the chicken is cooked through and the teriyaki sauce doesn’t burn. Depending on how big the wings are, the entire cooking time will be about 15-18 minutes.
