What’s the holiday season without some new version of Charles Dickens’ iconic A Christmas Carol? This year, audiences will receive the most special present of all: a brand new version featuring Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell!

The Apple TV+ original film is a fresh take as the story is transformed into a musical and is told from the ghost’s perspective––for the first time ever. Here’s all that we know about this festive flick so far.

Spirited Plot

Will Ferrell plays the Ghost of Christmas Past and come Christmas Eve, he selects one “dark soul” that will be visited by three spirits in hopes of reformation. “But this season, he picked the wrong Scrooge. Clint Briggs turns the tables on his ghostly host until Present finds himself reexamining his own past, present and future,” reads the Apple TV+ logline. “This modern retelling is a sweet and spicy holiday treat.”

Spirited Cast

Spirited includes stand-out actors that include Will Ferrell (also a producer for the film), Ryan Reynolds, Octavia Spencer, Sunita Mani, and Marlow Barkely (Slumberland). It’s based off of Charles’ Dickens novel, A Christmas Carol, and is directed by Sean Anders and John Morris.

The musical features original songs by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, Oscar winners for La La Land, and choreography by Chloe Arnold of The Late Late Show with James Corden.

Spirited Release Date

Apple TV+’s Spirited film will debut in theaters on Nov. 11 and will head to streaming on the platform starting Nov. 18.
