Want to really feel like you’ve gotten away from the hustle and bustle of your usual life? Relaxing with your kids is the name of the game at The Stavrand Hotel, located in the gorgeous Russian River Valley. This Guerneville gem recently underwent a major renovation and we got to check it out for ourselves. We know you’re going to be impressed—here’s the full scoop!

Just an hour and a half north of San Francisco is the wooded town of Guerneville, located right on the Russian River. It’s perfectly situated for a weekend away with your family and offers the fresh air and outdoor adventures you are craving.

Walking distance from downtown Guerneville is The Stavrand Hotel, a historic Spanish revival property with a brand-new Family Camp concept that you’ll want to check out. The property has outdoor gathering spaces for s’mores roasting and wine tasting (offered nightly), as well as trails for hiking.

The Property

You’ll find the rooms at The Stavrand Hotel to be bright, airy and well-appointed. Fireplaces make for a cozy night and you can even reserve a room with your own hot tub. Families with multiple kids can book adjacent rooms in the Belden House that surround a shared sitting area perfect for card games and Scrabble.

Kids who visit will love exploring the property with the scavenger hunt map that’s provided at check-in. They can also check out what’s growing in the organic garden and orchard, and pick their fill of fruit when in season. Lawn games are available for guest usage and the swimming pool is perfect for enjoying under the stars. Parents can book on-site massages and even babysitting services if needed.

The property is eager to welcome groups of families thinking about a property buy-out. They can bring in staff to provide activities for kids while parents enjoy a hike nearby. Reach out to the property for more information on what can be provided.

Culinary Offerings

One thing that really stands out when you visit The Stavrand is their exceptional culinary program. It features farm-fresh California cuisine with a focus on seasonal menus showcasing the rich bounty of the hotel’s garden and the surrounding Sonoma area. Property guests receive an included breakfast and there is an optional nightly private chef experience that includes delicious offerings like Mt. Lassen trout with fregola salad. It’s only available to guests staying on property and includes wines from nearby vintners and impeccable deserts.

Nearby Fun

When you are ready to head off property, the Russian River is just a short walk away. Book some river time with one of the local outfitters or borrow the property’s tubes for some time floating down the river. It’s the perfect activity for a summer day. There’s also a playground between town and the property and Guerneville Pee Wee Golf is fun for all ages.

Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve is just a 5-minute drive away and you can head to the coast for some beach time with just a 20-minute drive.

If wine tasting is your jam, there are tasting rooms in downtown Guerneville and you’ll find Korbel Champagne Cellars and family-owned Porter-Bass Winery just out of town.
