You already know that Woodinville is a popular destination for kid-friendly wineries and is the place to go during the summer for rockin’ outdoor concerts. But did you know this quaint town is also home to several fine kid-friendly dining establishments? We’ve rounded up four spots that offer choice eats for the even the pickiest eaters in your crew. So go ahead and satisfy your gourmet cravings. You can thank us later!

Hollywood Tavern

The Hollywood Tavern
This former service station has been an institution in Woodinville since 1923 — first as a service station, then as “Mabel’s,” a popular watering hole. It re-opened last year as the warm and cozy Hollywood Tavern, featuring gourmet comfort food and a fine selection of grownup drinks including 32 kinds of whiskey. The new owners haven’t forgotten the wee ones — kids are welcome in the dining room and outdoor patio. The kids’ menu features usual fare such as pasta with butter and Parmesan, but if your kiddo has either a bigger or more adventurous appetite, the regular menu has some tasty options (Chicken N’ Biscuit or Mac n’ Cheese with Smoked Gouda, anyone?).

Eating Dessert First? Ask your server for the half-sized, house-made Soft Serve Sundae ($3) with choice of toppings like almond brittle and Nutella. Or go big and get the Bacon & Apple Fritters with whiskey maple syrup.

Outdoor Space: The outdoor patio features a fire pit and lawn games during the summer months.

The Commons

The Commons
This casual cafe serves upscale American fare in a bright and airy space with high-ceilings. Every table has a cute little plant, just ‘cuz. Your carb-lovin’ kiddos will be in seventh heaven here: the kids’ menu features a wide array of choices for brunch, all-day, dinner, and dessert; prices range from $5 for a cinnamon roll to $10 for Chicken Pot Pie to $5 for a Theo’s Chocolate Shake. Portions are quite generous — it would not be unheard of for two small kiddos to split a Biscuit Sandwich or a Fish & Chips from the regular menu. No wonder weekdays here are popular with the lunch + play date crowd!

Eating Dessert First? Root beer floats, cookies and brownies, and a killer carrot cake. Did we already mention the Theo’s Chocolate Shake? The regular menu also features Espresso Sea Salt Caramels and Cinnamon Bread Pudding.

Outdoor Space: A front patio and a back patio; kids welcome on both.

Purple Cafe & Wine Bar
Don’t let the fancy-sounding name and its reputation for stellar dining discourage you. Sure, late in the evening Purple Cafe is filled with grownups feasting on fantastic food and enjoying a well-deserved wine flight. But during lunch and the early dinner hours, the restaurant is quite welcoming to kids. Look at their extensive kids’ menu and you’ll see it’s true. Brunch offers only scrambled eggs or french toast, but it is easy enough to put together a great meal with the à la carte offerings (think scones, fruit and bacon).

Eating Dessert First? Brownies or ice cream for the kiddos; for the grown-ups, the Adult Brownie Sundae or their famous Sea Salt Caramels are a must!

Outdoor Space: There are several tables on the front patio.

Forecasters Pub at Red Hook Brewery
The word “pub” is short for “public house,” where folks come to relax, have a pint, and have a meal. This is definitely the case at the Forecasters Pub, where they’ll happily serve you and your kiddos, even if nobody knows your name. The kids’ menu has the basics, from mac & cheese to cheese quesadillas to hamburgers — but the regular menu features many kid-friendly items, too. The Brewery Pretzel, Mini Corn Dogs, and Nachos have been known to bring a smile to a little one, as have the Smoked Turkey BLTA and Return of the Mac, a larger and more interesting mac and cheese (Gruyère, bacon, and bread crumbs).

Eating Dessert First? Try to choose between the Blackhook Brownie à la Mode or the Cinnamon Brioche Bread Pudding. Or get both… life is unpredictable!

Outdoor Space: Huge, sun-soaked patio featuring many tables with umbrellas. Bonus: An entertaining view of the Adventura Aerial Adventure obstacle course.

Good to Know: No reservations accepted from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Reservations are only for groups of 8 or more.
