Upon first glance, Crossroads Bellevue (15600 NE 8th Street,) is really just a mall in the ‘burbs. But sometimes that’s all you need for a bit o’ kiddo distraction (even if your NY resolution includes a shopping hiatus). We’d start the suburban adventure with a sweet treat – a mini cupcake from New York Cupcakes – can’t go wrong with Grand Central Smores or Soho Strawberry. With sugar rush activated, head into the mall to CF Kids, which hosts weekly kid-friendly events weekly – this Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., it’s Pattycake Prints, where you can do cast imprints of those delicious little hands and feet. Creatively Yours Ceramic Studio is a fun paint-your-own-pottery spot and we love that they charge per piece, rather than by the hour, because who knew it could take a 3 year old so long to paint a little ceramic frog? For lunch, go ethnic – there’s no better mall food court when it comes to diverse offerings. Try a dosa from Indi Bite Indian Grill, or a bowl of chicken pho from Papaya Vietnamese, or a creamy smoothie from Boba Express. The mall also has weekly pre-school story times at Barnes & Noble (on Wednesdays from 3 to 3:30) and at the Crossroads Library Connection. Check the mall calendar for times, as they vary.
