So far this summer you’ve splashed in the spray parks, mulled over museums and frolicked at farms, and now the kids need hands-on down time. How about an art project? We’ve rounded up our area’s best places to paint your own pottery (with some glass fusing and crafting thrown in for good measure). Click through the gallery to find out where to get your art on this summer.

Studio 2 You

How it works: This ingenious traveling pottery and clay art studio brings all the fun of a fired arts studio to you! Owner Davicia VanDerVenter, who has 10 years of experience in the industry and got her start as a camp counselor in charge of all crafts and creative activities, packs up the all the tools and brings them to you for a fun pottery painting or clay art event. You just provide the creativity!

Camps, parties and classes: Whatever event, summer playdate or birthday party you dream up, Davicia can provide the tools necessary for crafty fun! You simply book a party with Davicia, either ask her to bring a variety of pieces, or place an order from the 700 bisque pieces available in the online catalog. She’ll bring everything you need for a creativity bonanza, will provide lots of creative inspiration, and will do all set up and clean up. She also provides a Birthday Plate for the partygoers to decorate for the birthday kid, glazes and fires your completed pieces and delivers them to the kid of honor (or party organizer). And if you’d rather create your own pieces, she also does clay parties. Can it get cooler than that?

Important party details: There is a minimum pottery order of $150 or $15/person; parties run 1 hour. There is also a minimum clay party cost of $180; parties run 45 minutes. No maximum number of kids. Traveling fee is $50 for the greater Seattle area.

Good to know: Davicia has a booth at the Renton Farmer’s Market, where your crafty kiddo can paint his or her own pottery while you peruse the goodies at this Tuesday market, 3 p.m.-7 p.m. through September 2014. Just stop by the following week, and she will have your glazed and fired piece, all ready for pickup!
