The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recently announced a recall of 10,600 American Apparel children’s sleep sacks. The products fail to meet flammability standards for children’s sleepwear. This poses a possible burn injury risk. Representatives from American Apparel did not immediately return Red Tricycle’s request for comment.

Recalled Product Description: American Apparel Children’s Sleep Sacks
The recent recall includes Baby Rib Collection 100 percent cotton, 90 percent cotton and 10 percent polyester-blended knit infant’s sleep sacks. The American Apparel brand children’s item was sold in black, green, grey, navy, light blue, red, pink and white in sizes 6- through 12-months.
Why the Sleep Sacks Were Recalled
While no incidents are reported at this time, the sleep sacks don’t meet required flammability safety standards—posing a burn risk in the event of a fire.
How to Tell If Your Child’s Sleep Sack Was Recalled
The Baby Rib Collection sleep sacks made by American Apparel have the brand and collection names printed on the neck label. The sleep sacks also have the words “Made in Honduras” and the size on another neck label.
All recalled products were sold for $15 to $20 at americanapparel.com from January 2018 through January 2019.
What Parents Can Do
If you have the recalled sleep sack don’t use it. Contact American Apparel online at americanapparel.com, by phone at 833-222-7760 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT Monday through Friday or via email at service@americanapparel.com for a refund or replacement.
