If you haven’t yet binged the FX hit The Bear on Hulu, please run, don’t walk to your TV and do so immediately. The show has been the breakout of the summer for its sharp writing, realistic portrayal of what it’s like to work in a kitchen, and already beloved characters played by highly talented actors. Now, fans can rest easy, because there will officially be a season two.
FX announced the good news in a press release, saying in part, “‘The Bear’ has exceeded our wildest creative, critical, and commercial expectations. We can’t wait to get to work on season two.” They also confirmed the entire cast will return for season two, including Jeremy Allen White as Carmy, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Richie, Ayo Edebiri as Sydney, Lionel Boyce as Marcus, Liza Colón-Zayas as Tina, Edwin Lee Gibson as Ebraheim, Matty Matheson as Neil Fak, and Abby Elliott as Carmy’s sister, Sugar.

Jeremy Allen White, The Bear’s lead actor plays a renowned chef who came back to his hometown of Chicago to run his late brother’s sandwich shop, The Beef. His brother, who died by suicide, left the business to him, which was being run by his cousin after his death. There are equal parts humor and sadness to be felt as you watch Carmy try to turn the restaurant, and its staff, into a well-run establishment, while those who have worked there for years say goodbye to the old way of doing things. Add in family dynamics, dysfunctional business practices, and a lack of Sharpies, and you’ve got all the ingredients of a hit show.

Sous chef Sydney and the restaurant’s baker, Marcus, are standouts that almost slip away during a particularly intense moment in the show, but find their way back and commit to staying and making The Beef a place that will be around for years to come.
“We are so grateful to FX, our insanely talented cast, our crew who worked hard, fast, and in the dead of winter, not to mention everyone who watched,” co-showrunners and executive producers Christopher Storer and Joanna Calo said. “And we can’t wait to bring you all back to The Bear in 2023.”
While no official release date has been mentioned, we’ll be on pins and needles waiting for the season two trailer.
