During the show, musical nerds finally got what we’ve all been waiting for: the first teaser trailer of the revamped West Side Story. Directed by Steven Spielberg, the rebooted film appears to stay true to the classic in imagery, music and story set in 1957 amidst rival gangs. Keep scrolling to see for yourself! The new film includes plenty of up and comers like Ansel Elgort (Tony), Rachel Zegler (María), Ariana DeBose (Anita), David Alvarez (Bernardo), Mike Faist (Riff), Josh Andrés Rivera (Chino), Ana Isabelle (Rosalía), Corey Stoll (Lieutenant Schrank), Brian d’Arcy James (Officer Krupke) and Rita Moreno––who appeared in the OG West Side Story. While the trailer likely got you amped up to belt out the chorus of “I Feel Pretty” and “America” alongside the cast, you’ll have to wait a little longer.
