This mom shared how she keeps her kids from bickering, and you’re going to want to try it yourself

There are some things that are just universally true of kids. One of those is that they bicker. And the more kids you have, the more intense the bickering becomes—unless you’re Kellie Henry, a mom of four who discovered the most genius hack for stopping the arguing once and for all. And thank goodness Henry is sharing her wisdom with the rest of us so we can use this trick on our kids, too.

In a viral TikTok video, Henry explains that this “hack” has been working for her family for over a year.

“If you have kids who fight over where they sit in the car, and it gets super annoying, and you try to remember, like, who sat where, and try to keep it fair, this might help you,” she begins. “I’ve just assigned my kids a day of the week. I have four of them. We go youngest to oldest, Monday to Thursday. On their day, they have extra responsibilities, but they also get special treatment.”

What that means, Henry explains, is that on each kid’s day, they have to do extra chores like empty the dishwasher, take out the trash, and feed the dog. If Henry needs help with anything, she asks the kids whose day it is. But they get something in return.

“They also know they get special treatment that day,” she adds. “They get to choose their seat in the car that day. They get to say the family prayer. They get to help me choose what we’re making for dinner that night.”

We can totally see how this would stop kids from bickering. Instead of fighting over who sits where in the car, they would always know their special day is coming—and when. It’s genius. And it would work great for families of virtually any size. Plus, it’s a lesson that responsibility is earned—you don’t get the privileges without doing the work. BRB, implementing this system right away.
