Ashley Graham’s Breastfeeding New Mom Posts Are So Relatable

It’s not the first time Ashley Graham has taken her body-positive message to the masses, but we moms might love this time the most. The model shared recent snaps of herself with her infants and toddler and anyone who’s been there knows: she’s not making this sh*t up. The pictures, which included her breastfeeding, pumping and burping, are totally relatable.

“I like it when your body goes pump pump pump,” she wrote in the post, where she shared images of everything from leaky breasts to her own self-care (which was done, naturally, while feeding two tiny humans). Her humor and relatability might just be why she has over 17 million followers.

Graham and her husband Justin Ervin welcomed twin boys, Malachai and Roman, in January. The couple already had Isaac, 2. The actress spoke to Entertainment Tonight last year about motherhood, saying “To me, breastfeeding, whether you do it or don’t do it as a mother, like, it should just be normalized…Just like anything else when it comes to being a parent. Everybody parents differently, everybody treats their body differently. So to post yourself breastfeeding should be normalized just as much as giving your child a bottle.”

After delivering her twins, Graham posted a snap of them to Instagram and wrote: ‘been off the gram. here are two big reasons why.’ She went on to write ‘Justin and I are so excited to share that our baby boys are here. They were born early this morning at home and are happy and healthy.’ And, ‘I’m taking some time to heal up and connect with my husband and three boys, but I truly can not wait to share more with you all. Much love, AG.’

Graham has been a leader of female empowerment and outspoken about bucking societal expectations of women’s weight. As a mom, she’s shared stretch marks on social media, along with images that show the reality of the postpartum experience. Recently, she partnered with Joanna Griffiths, then-pregnant founder and CEO of direct-to-consumer underwear brand Knix (who was told by potential investors that she couldn’t run a business and raise children…so she raised $53 million in funding, birthed twins, and launched a brand). Their collaboration resulted in a 90-second video celebrating female strength called “Big. Strong. Woman.

“Believe me when I say your body is beautiful,” Graham wrote on Instagram last summer, “and I know it’s easy to tell yourself the lie that you’re not good enough, thin enough, sexy enough, ‘flawless’ enough to wear a tank top or a swimsuit, but it’s hot out there and so are you. Don’t let your mind stop you from enjoying your life to the fullest (and remember to say ‘I love you’ to yourself every day).”
