One of our favorite recipes for fun includes plenty of wide open spaces, a dash of wind, lots of sunshine, and of course, kids! Throw in a couple of kites and you’ve got the makings for a perfect day. Will Rogers Polo Field – Pacific Palisades, Ca

Flying a kite in a polo field may sound unusual but not only is it a gorgeous spot surrounded by hiking trails, horses and ocean breezes, your kiddos have an entire swath of green field (10 acres!) for launching kites. When done, hit the trails for ocean views and rushing streams, or tour the historic house on the property. For equestrian fans, checking out a polo match during the summer months is a must. Don’t forget to bring a little extra cash—parking in the lot is $12.
