It looks like Wakanda may have a new Black Panther

It’s been four years since the world saw a Black Panther film, and the passing of Chadwick Boseman made it feel as though we might never again. Thankfully, a Black Panther sequel is almost here, meaning the world is headed back to Wakanda.

Marvel Studios has finally shared the long-awaited trailer for the upcoming film, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and it is every bit as powerful and action-packed as ever. While we’re still waiting for specific plot details, we do know that Boseman’s King T’Challa is no longer with us, and his character will not be re-cast. Instead, the people of Wakanda are moving forward, despite their loss. Here’s what else we know.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Plot

Amid the action-packed trailer lies a plot that we are still trying to figure out. We see many landscapes of Wakanda, including an underwater scene (and someone’s baby being born) and what looks like some new villains. Marvel Studios’ synopsis reads: [In] “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” Queen Ramonda, Shuri, M’Baku, Okoye and the Dora Milaje, fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death. As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia and Everett Ross and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda.”

The newest trailer shares even more insight into the upcoming film, where it appears a feather serpent god plays a big role. Not satisfied with an underwater kingdom, the character is headed for the surface world, but it appears a new Black Panther (Shuri!?) is there to keep Wakanda safe.
