Bluey writers have confirmed they’re going on hiatus after Season 3, but they say the show isn’t ending. Here’s everything we know about the break

What would we even do without Bluey? For almost five years, this funny, heartwarming show has been entertaining kids (and, not-so-secretly, their parents). But the show’s writers just announced that after the current, third season, they’re taking a break from the adventures of Bluey, Bingo, Bandit, and Chili. Don’t worry, though—the show isn’t coming to an end. Here’s everything we know so far about the hiatus.

Bluey producer Daley Pearson announced the break in an interview with Australia’s The Courier Mail, just after the show broke records to become Australia’s most-watched TV show ever. In the interview, Pearson said that the success has been rewarding, but now, he wants to make sure the writing team can maintain the quality of the show without burning out.

“We are just going to get our heads on a bit, it’s been four or five years and we’ve made 154 episodes, it is kind of unprecedented to do that back-to-back,” he said. “It was very intense … we are just coming to the end of season three and trying to think about what’s the best way to make it better.”

He continued, “We have all secretly agreed with each other that we wouldn’t keep making Bluey if it wasn’t as good as the one that came before, so we want to make sure we keep doing that. Part of it is just not pushing to come back. We are resting; the more we ask ourselves [when work will begin on season four], the longer it will be, which is why I hesitate talking about it too much.”

That’s why Pearson doesn’t have any insight into when fans can expect Season 4. But he said he and the team appreciate their love and support, and they don’t take it lightly.

“The amount of families who have taken Bluey in and trust this show with their kids, it’s a privilege that we don’t, and have never, taken lightly … ever,” he said.

Now for the good news: The 3-part Bluey finale still hasn’t aired in Australia. In the U.S., we still have 10 more episodes to go in Season 3. And during the wait for Season 4, we’ll still be able to stream past Bluey seasons on Disney+. If there’s any show good enough for a rewatch, it’s Bluey.
