Goju-Ryu Seiwa-Kai Karate of LA is a traditional karate dojo that offers classes for everyone, ages 4 and up. With kids and adult classes, you can feel right at home.

Our dojo was founded in 1972 by Shihan Vassie Naidoo, a world-renowned leader in Goju-Ryu Seiwa-Kai karate instruction. He extends his love of karate to kids and adults, focusing on technique and discipline for children and stress relief for adults.

Goju-Ryu emphasizes the well being of your whole body. It is a great way to increase your core strength, flexibility, confidence, and ability to focus. As you learn, you will improve your breathing. And, of course, you will learn to defend yourself and those around you. Whatever your needs, we are here for you!

Our dojo community is a welcoming family. We are here to help you achieve your training goals while teaching you practical, powerful techniques that are useful in real-life situations.

Located in the arts district of Culver City, Echo Horizon is a Pre-K-Grade 6 school with a pure elementary-school focus. Here, children have the space to explore, question, and imagine in a diverse, inclusive community that is down-to-earth and free of unhealthy pressure. Our unique curriculum combines the “best of both worlds”: the strongest traditional practices with research-based and evidence-tested innovation. Echo Horizon alumni matriculate to the most exceptional secondary schools in the greater Los Angeles area.

Fifteen percent of our scholars are deaf or hard of hearing (DHH). DHH students learn and play alongside their hearing peers. This inclusion model benefits everyone—hearing and DHH students develop a lived understanding of differences, empathy, and an appreciation of diversity.

To Inspire

Imaginology Kids started with the  idea of creating an outdoor program for a school where I was teaching.  I  wanted to inspire and support creativity in the children,  the teachers  and for myself. I envisioned  giving children the freedom to try things that they might not have the opportunity to do at home or in their classrooms, to create a space where anything was possible, where children could safely test limits, and challenge themselves to try something new.

The Mission

The mission and values of my outdoor program are alive and thriving today at Imaginology Kids, where creativity is encouraged and treasured, where children fall in love with the joy of learning  in a space I wish I’d had as a kid, and dreamed of for my children.

The Families

Imaginology Kids  attracts families who think outside the box and understand the value of play based learning, using a blend of natural  and up-cycled  materials and tools which encourage investigation and open ended play.

The Journey

This journey’s not easy, and  demands an enormous amount of commitment and resourcefulness from all involved. In exchange, we’re creating a learning environment like no other.  If you would like  to be part of turning this vision into reality, then please join us!

At the Arise & Shine Center we are taking education to the next level by empowering kids with mindfulness and life skills .  Our teaching isn’t just about imparting information.  We focus on what sets the stage for learning, Centering, and then we proceed from there, often seeing substantial results in short periods of time.

Our mission is to help kids become life champions through Centering.

The Centering Curriculum is based on authentic presence, bridge building, appeal to timeless principles and practice of social-emotional and life skills.  We teach to dream and think independently and outside the box, to honor yourself, all while staying grounded.  From breathing techniques to eye contact, we connect to our Self, others, and the world.

The Arise and Shine Center keeps what has worked in ‘regular’ school and charter school models, and discards what has not.  We focus on the new emerging metric of well-being and life-long happiness and growth.

Our Mission is to develop children’s creativity through hands-on making with sustainable materials.

Our Vision is for all people to have an outlet for acquiring and donating reusable materials, and a resource to develop skills for employing them in a variety of ways. As reDiscover meets this need, we move closer to a culture where all waste materials can be recognized for their educational and creative value.

We achieve our mission and vision through strategic initiatives: community engagement utilizing our reuse warehouse, programs focused on education and creative expression, and shaping the next generation by working with children at our center, at schools, and in the community

reDiscover Center gives manufacturing scrap new life as materials for art, tinkering, and exploration. We collect everything from mylar ribbons to dowels to buckles to tennis balls to a million other things in our Upcycled Materials Warehouse. We provide these materials at minimal cost and incorporate them into programs that follow your kids’ fanciful imaginations. Come in for the most creative experience on the Westside.

As a primary prevention model of care, we begin by asking two questions:

1. What are the conditions by which families and communities thrive?
2. How might Well Baby Center provide the services that are conducive to these conditions being met?

From a prevention model there are two ways to prevent family dysfunction from taking root:

The first is for there to be adequate community support and the second is for there to be adequate emotional support by culturally sensitive, de-stigmatizing professionals. We provide these services for both those juggling the enormous responsibilities as new parents and also for those struggling to just get by.
